The announcement of an environment-friendly proposal named “Every Bottle Back” was recently done by a collaboration of 3 major companies namely PepsiCo, The Coca-Cola Company, and Keurig Dr. Pepper. In an attempt to make this initiative successful and as a part of a circular economy drive, these companies are collaborating with The Recycling Partnership (TRP), the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), and Closed Loop Partners (CLP).
Moreover, the American Beverage Association (ABA) will be leading this initiative, which is supposed to award a total of $400 Million to both CLP and TRP. Out of this amount, approximately $100 Million will be gathered through industry fund matched 3-to-1 by grants and shareholders. The responsibility of keeping track of the progress of this initiative is given to WWF’s ReSource activation hub. A pledge to advance the availability and quality of recycled plastics in important regions such as the Southeast, Northeast, Texas, and Midwest was taken by the key firms active in the beverage industry. Moreover, consumers will be educated to comprehend the recyclable nature of the products they are buying. In this mission, voluntary product labeling and public education campaigns are supposed to play a key part. Keefe Harrison, TRP’s CEO, stated that such policies are generally welcomed by her organization. Moreover, she pointed out the importance of the involvement of the private sector to address the issue of plastic pollution.
On a similar note, the North America division of Coca-Cola is planning to roll out Aha, a brand new sparkling water product, in March 2020.
